Ms. Bocking will be joining us as a half-time administrator, spending the complement of her position in a vice-principal role at Odessa Public School. We are grateful for the support this will offer to staff, students and our school community. Ms. Bocking is currently finishing off the year as Vice-Principal/SST at Enterprise and Tamworth Public Schools. She has a strong skill set and background in special education and will be a welcome addition to the team at Centennial!! </h4><hr><h2 class="editor-heading-h2">Soccer Fever @ Centennial! </h2>Soccer is one of the favourite recess-time activities at Centennial, and we often hear students sharing updates in the hallways and classrooms about the World Cup. We were fortunate to have Ms. Lane invite a special guest speaker and athlete to visit students on our World Cup Soccer Spirit Day last week. This St. Lawrence College soccer player (originally from Nigeria) offered to speak with some of our students about his journey and then spend time playing soccer with them. He shared about having a strong work ethic, commitment to schooling, and the importance of showing respect, leadership and teamwork on the field and in life. He joined students outside at both recesses to play with both primary and junior students. The following information has been shared with us, outlining the potential impacts that accessing the area will have.<ul class="editor-list-ul"><li value="1" class="editor-listitem" style="text-align: start;">The contractor will be starting construction on Monday, June 15:<ul class="editor-list-ul"><li value="1" class="editor-listitem">The work will begin at the Sir John A Macdonald and Norman Rogers Drive intersection. Entrance and exit from Norman Rogers Drive will be restricted during construction hours.</li><li value="2" class="editor-listitem">The road will be reopened overnight and during the weekend.</li><li value="3" class="editor-listitem">Pedestrian access will be maintained throughout construction.</li><li value="4" class="editor-listitem">The initial closure will extend to the east side of Cliff Cres.</li><li value="5" class="editor-listitem">During school pick-up/drop off, the contractor will have spotters at the intersection to allow tri-board busses through the Van Order Drive intersection.</li></ul></li><li value="2" class="editor-listitem" style="text-align: start;">Work is expected to proceed westward in sections while moving the closures along.<ul class="editor-list-ul"><li value="1" class="editor-listitem">The project webpage has been updated with an approximate month-month schedule.</li><li value="2" class="editor-listitem">If work progresses faster than expected, then the contractor will skip the sections in front of the schools and then return in July/August.</li></ul></li><li value="3" class="editor-listitem" style="text-align: start;">The contractor is aware of the playground work that is planned at Centennial School in July, as well as the EarlyOn program and Gould Lake pick-up/drop-off during the summer. Along with a few other LDSB schools, Centennial has been granted a new WOW playstructure. Symptoms: Symptoms typically start 2 to 10 days after exposure and include watery diarrhea, nausea, vomiting, cramps, and fever. Prevention & Advice: The health unit urges anyone experiencing symptoms to stay home. Frequent handwashing with soap and water is essential, as alcohol-based hand sanitizers are ineffective against this specific parasite. Our International Education team is looking for more families to become homestay hosts to international students.We currently have 19 students on our waiting list that have applied to Limestone for 2026-2027 and need a home. The following information has been shared with us, outlining the potential impacts that accessing the area will have.<ul class="editor-list-ul"><li value="1" class="editor-listitem" style="text-align: start;">The contractor will be starting construction on Monday, June 15:<ul class="editor-list-ul"><li value="1" class="editor-listitem">The work will begin at the Sir John A Macdonald and Norman Rogers Drive intersection. Entrance and exit from Norman Rogers Drive will be restricted during construction hours.</li><li value="2" class="editor-listitem">The road will be reopened overnight and during the weekend.</li><li value="3" class="editor-listitem">Pedestrian access will be maintained throughout construction.</li><li value="4" class="editor-listitem">The initial closure will extend to the east side of Cliff Cres.</li><li value="5" class="editor-listitem">During school pick-up/drop off, the contractor will have spotters at the intersection to allow tri-board busses through the Van Order Drive intersection.</li></ul></li><li value="2" class="editor-listitem" style="text-align: start;">Work is expected to proceed westward in sections while moving the closures along.<ul class="editor-list-ul"><li value="1" class="editor-listitem">The project webpage has been updated with an approximate month-month schedule.</li><li value="2" class="editor-listitem">If work progresses faster than expected, then the contractor will skip the sections in front of the schools and then return in July/August.</li></ul></li><li value="3" class="editor-listitem" style="text-align: start;">The contractor is aware of the playground work that is planned at Centennial School in July, as well as the EarlyOn program and Gould Lake pick-up/drop-off during the summer. Along with a few other LDSB schools, Centennial has been granted a new WOW playstructure. Symptoms: Symptoms typically start 2 to 10 days after exposure and include watery diarrhea, nausea, vomiting, cramps, and fever. Prevention & Advice: The health unit urges anyone experiencing symptoms to stay home. Frequent handwashing with soap and water is essential, as alcohol-based hand sanitizers are ineffective against this specific parasite. On average, more than 14,000 meals and snacks were served each week, over 530,000 throughout the year, with weekly food orders reaching approximately $17,500.We are grateful to the dedicated staff who make these programs possible, and to The Food Sharing Project for continuing to support student well-being across LDSB. This support is increasingly important as many families continue to face food insecurity. Board of Trustees Approves 2026–2027 School Year Budget

At its regular meeting on June 17, 2026, the Limestone District School Board of Trustees approved a $340.5 million budget for the 2026–2027 school year. This is a deficit budget balanced through the use of reserve funds.The approved budget complies with Ministry of Education requirements and includes:<ul class="editor-list-ul"><li value="1" class="editor-listitem">Operating expenditures of $316.8 million, representing a $73,000 decrease compared to the previous year.</li><li value="2" class="editor-listitem">Capital expenditures of $23.7 million, allocated to school condition improvements and renewal projects.</li></ul>The vast majority of the operating budget is directed to student instruction and relates directly to classroom support.
