Centennial Students Involved in the Community!
We were thrilled to see have some of our classes at Centenni As part of the community Little Forest Group, Mr. Tiffany helped to co-ordinate this project and his class will also be raising native tree saplings in the classroom over the winter, ready to plant on the school yard in the spring. Please help keep this project healthy by reminding students to avoid this area and appreciate the contributions of this group. We look forward to fruit tree plantings in the spring!
Student Wellness Initiative
Centennial has been fortunate to receive a $1,000 ministry grant to support student-led mental health and wellness activities. Our proposal involved students planning and organizing wellness activities such as delivering presentations to classes, as well as a "Zen-Den" to host a belonging club where everyone is welcomed and respected. We are excited to have students involved and represented at Centennial and look forward to implementing their ideas for this initiative.
KLF&A Public Health Childhood Illnesses and Exclusions
Unsure when to keep your child home when they are unwell? The KFL&A Public Health guidelines have changed and include different symptoms since Covid. Vomiting and diarrhea remain 48 hours symptom free. Other childhood illness exclusions can be found here: https://www.kflaph.ca/en/health-topics/common-childhood-illnesses.aspx
Visitors @ Centennial PS
We welcome visitors to our school. We do ask that all visitors, parents/guardians included, sign in with the main office and remain in the front lobby, or at the front door, until directed/escorted by a staff member.
All LDSB elementary schools are equipped with a Safe Welcome system which requires all external doors be locked during the school day. All visitors are required to report to the school’s main entrance and request access using an intercom and buzzer system.
When it is necessary for a student to leave school during the day, a note is required from a parent or guardian. The note must be given to the homeroom teacher or the office. If parents/guardians of students are coming to pick up/drop off your child, you are asked to wait at the main office. If necessary, office staff will alert your child’s classroom. These measures are in place to help keep all students safe and minimize disruptions to learning.
Thank you for your support and cooperation : )
