Dear Families,

A big thank you to our Centennial SAC for a very successful Fall Family Fun Night! It was wonderful to see many families out to enjoy the various activities and games, colouring contest, and of course the dance!! Students and their important adults had opportunities to share time, converse, connect and see students having fun with their peers. Thank you to our school community for supporting this event, we look forward to next year! Please join us at the next SAC Meeting this Monday, November 3rd to learn more about thwat is happening at Centennial, some of the goals of the council this year, and how to become a part of the team that positively supports our school community, staff, and students.

Student leadership is beginning this week at Centennial. Junior students who express interest will be starting as Lunch Helpers and Yard Pals for some of our primary classes. We are already very grateful for our Bus Monitors who have already taken on this leadership role. We look forward to initiating our Student Council and recognize our will recognize our Junior leaders in various ways over the year for volunteering their time.

We will be welcoming staff from the Health Unit to come out and train our Yard Pals with PAL (Physical Activity Leaders) training later this term. These students will be taught how to facilitate games with younger students on the yard, which helps primary students learn how to engage safely through play during their outside time. Building a team of Junior leaders not only builds positive connections with younger students, guiding them and engaging with them on the school yard but also provides Junior students with opportunities to build their skills and grow their own sense of community beyond their own social circles.

Junior Boys and Girls Volleyball season has begun! Teams are being formed and practices underway - we look forward to the season ahead. Once the seasons have wrapped up we will look to create an intramural opportunity to capture students who express interest in further building their skills in a non-competitive environment.

Thank you again to all of our families for their continued support, Progress Reports and Communication of Learning (JK/SK) will be going home on November 13th.

Ms. Fox and the Centennial Team
