Dear Families,
It looks like we have some rainy days ahead! Please send your child with appropriate footwear/a raincoat, and a change of clothes if possible. We will endeavour to have students get some fresh air if weather permits as we know how important this is to their ability to engage in learning.
Our Cross Country runners had a very successful day at last week's regional meet at Fort Henry. The route is a challenge for all runners and takes that extra push and perseverance to bring it in to the finish. Thank you to the Centennial coaching staff for your efforts in preparing students for the meet. We are sending 9 students to the District meet this week! No matter what place or number, every student worked to do better than they did the day before, and that is indeed SUCCESS! So proud of our Comets and their efforts and stamina when things felt hard, life skills that will only serve them well. : )
In this newsletter, you will find more information on the upcoming Student Census. Please connect with the classroom staff or Ms. Fox if you have any questions about your student's involvement. This is an opportunity to capture student voice to ensure our planning as a school board is responding to the needs of students in our system. As you will note, the current focus of the census is students in grades 4-8, with primary grades included within the next phase.
Staff continue to work hard with students to complete screeners and assessments to determine how to best meet students' needs and plan for next steps this year. Progress reports are on the horizon, and staff may be connecting with families to discuss your child's current learning needs, successes, and areas for growth. We value families as our partners in education and building in all of the supports needed to optimize students' growth and learning throughout the year. We invite families to connect with classroom staff if they have any concerns or information that would be helpful to include in planning together for your child's success.
We are so fortunate to have such a caring, hard-working, and dedicated staff at Centennial. Students are cared for, listened to, and held to expectations that they can achieve. We are committed to fueling academic success, as well as the emotional well-being of our learners. Centennial is a team that cares, an essential foundation to build up each child to reach their best potential. We are fortunate to have our families as partners along the journey. We have been working hard to share clear expectations with students to create structure and consistency in their school day. We invite families to review these expectations with students at home to help set your child up for success in their days at school.
