Student Retrieval of Personal Belongings

Dear Parents and Guardians,

Thank you everyone for your patience and understanding as we have worked with health officials to develop a protocol for the safe retrieval of students’ belongings.  We are now ready to begin this process, as outlined below:

During the week of June 8 to June 12, school staff will organize, bag and label, as best as possible, student belongings.  Student items will be placed in the hallway outside the student’s classroom.  Any items that cannot be identified will be placed in an area close to the classroom.

On Monday, June 15, we will invite families to the school to collect belongings.  Please note the following protocols that will apply to that day:

-Everyone entering the school must assess whether they have any symptoms of COVID-19 or any other acute respiratory infection.  Active Screening symptoms include:  Fever, new or worsening cough, difficulty breathing or shortness of breath, other symptoms of an acute respiratory infection (e.g., fatigue, headache, sore throat, runny nose), diarrhea or vomiting.  If you have any of these symptoms, please do not enter the school.  Everyone will also be asked if they have travelled outside of Canada in the past 14 days, and if so, they will not be permitted in the school.

-Social distancing practices must be followed at all times – in line to enter the school, in the school building, and in the parking lot or other school grounds.  Pylons will be placed at each entrance adhering to the physical distancing guidelines.  Please line up at the next available pylon.

-Please keep numbers to a minimum – one adult, or one adult plus one child if possible.

-The sole purpose of the visit is to collect belongings.  We would kindly ask that families not play/visit with others while at school, but to come, get your belongings, and leave as quickly as possible, in the interest of everyone’s health and safety.

-Please come at your assigned time, and line up in your assigned location (schedule below).  Families with more than one student are asked to line up with the class of the oldest student (you will be allowed to collect all children’s belongings at once).

-If you are not able to come at your designated time on June 15, you may come on Tuesday, June 16, from 9-11 a.m.  On this day we will ask everyone to safely line up at their designated doors.

-Any personal belongings not collected on June 15 or 16 will be safely stored until September, at which time another opportunity for collection will take place.  After a reasonable time, unclaimed items will be donated to a local charity.

- Please bring any library books or other school items to return when you come.
