Note From the Principal

Hello Comet Families,

I hope that this email continues to find you all well and healthy.  As we begin week 6 of emergency remote learning, we continue to be impressed with the work and motivation of our students and families.  We understand that this is a difficult time and we are very appreciative of everything that you’re doing to keep the learning going.  Thank you for all your hard work and dedication to your child’s growth and development!

Our virtual Resource Room continues to be open to all students.  This is an opportunity for EAs to provide academic and technical support to our students in Google Meet.  This week, the support is offered Mondays - Fridays from 10:00 - 11:00 am and from 1:30 - 2:30 pm.  Starting next week, the Resource Room will be open only on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays from 10:00 -11:00 am and 1:30 - 2:30 pm.  At each session, there are two EAs available to assist you and your child.  Please email me if you require information on how to access the Resource Room.

A reminder that we are having another spirit day on Friday, May 22.  Students are asked to take a picture of themselves with silly hair or wearing a silly hat.  For families that don’t have Twitter, you can email your child’s picture to their classroom teacher or you can post it in your child’s Google Classroom.  Any pictures that are emailed or posted to Google Classroom will be shared on our school Twitter account.  Please share your pictures by Friday, May 15 to ensure that we can get them posted on our Twitter feed by May 22.  For families with Twitter accounts, please tweet your picture and tag us at @Centennial_LDSB Centennial Comets- Soar Like Comets!

Last week, all LDSB families with students from grades 4 to 12, should have received an email regarding a Remote Learning Survey.  All families and students in Grades 4-12 are invited to complete the short survey on their experiences with emergency remote learning.  The feedback will be used to further support learning from home. Please look to your inbox for the email invite. The survey is open until May 14, 2020.

Please continue to follow the Centennial website http://www.centennial.on.ca and the LDSB website at www.limestone.on.ca, the Centennial Twitter account at @Centennial_LDSB and the LDSB Twitter account at @LimestoneDSB, for updates and information.

If you are looking for information regarding community supports, these will be posted on the LDSB website.  As well, if you have any questions or might require assistance in trying to access community supports for you or your family, you are more than welcome to email me directly at pattisonean@limestone.on.ca.

Stay Safe, Stay Well Comets!
