Note from the Principal

Hello Comet Families,

I hope that this email continues to find you all well and healthy.

A special thank you goes to Emily Rayls for doing an amazing job with our weekly announcements.  She did a great job keeping everyone informed with everything that’s happening at Centennial!  We will look at sharing weekly announcements every Friday for the rest of June in all the Google Classrooms.  To view this week’s announcement, please go to:

Information regarding student retrieval of personal items was emailed to families today.  Please check your email to view your child(ren)’s pickup time and information regarding pickup protocol.  You can also visit our Centennial website at:

We have 3 new activities for our Comets to try for our Virtual Kindness Club, Virtual Art Club, and Virtual Craft Club.  All students are encouraged to participate in the activities and to share them with their classroom teacher through Google Classrooms.  We look forward to seeing all the amazing things our students are doing to stay engaged and connected.

For our Virtual Craft Club activity, this week’s activity will be posted to all Google Classrooms.

Within the next couple of weeks, there will be a special presentation by Ted Staunton for our Centennial students.  Mr. Staunton is a famous children’s author who has written many books including Puddleman, Simon’s Surprise, Bounced, and The Almost Epic Squad.  Stay tuned for more information about his presentation.

During the month of June, we celebrate Pride Month.  Not only is this a time to recognize the achievements and contributions of LGBTQ2S+ communities but to also reflect on our own impact in creating a safe and inclusive environment where everyone feels welcomed and has a place.

Thank you to all our students and families who showed their Comet pride and submitted pictures for our Beach Spirit Day.  It looks like our Comets had lots of fun in the sun.

Our next spirit day is on Friday, June 19.  In recognizing Pride month, we want our Comets to show their True Colours.  Please take a picture of your child(ren) wearing their favourite colour or wearing as many colours as they can.  Together, let’s show our True Colours and show that we celebrate and respect diversity and that every student has a place at Centennial.  We ask that all pictures are shared by Wednesday, June 17.   For families with Twitter accounts, you are welcome to tweet your picture on Friday, June 19th.  Please make sure to tag us at @Centennial_LDSB Centennial Comets- Soar Like Comets!

Our virtual Resource Room continues to be open to all students.  This is an opportunity for EAs to provide academic and technical support to our students in Google Meet.  The Resource Room will be open only on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays from 10:00 -11:00 am and 1:30 - 2:30 pm.  At each session, there are two EAs available to assist you and your child.  Please email me if you require information on how to access the Resource Room.

Please continue to follow the Centennial website http://www.centennial.on.ca and the LDSB website at www.limestone.on.ca, the Centennial Twitter account at @Centennial_LDSB and the LDSB Twitter account at @LimestoneDSB, for updates and information.

If you are looking for information regarding community supports, these will be posted on the LDSB website.  As well, if you have any questions or might require any assistance, you are more than welcome to email me directly at pattisonean@limestone.on.ca.  Please don’t hesitate to reach out to me for any reason.

Stay Safe, Stay Well Comets!
