Note From the Principal

Hello Comet Families,

I hope that this email finds you all well and healthy. These are definitely challenging and unprecedented times and we are all missing the connections, relationships and daily routine that comes from being at school. Eventually, we will get back to normal and routine but for now, your child’s health and well-being are the most important things.  Please continue to focus on you and yours and know that if you need anything, please don’t hesitate to reach out to us. As I mentioned in my last email, I truly believe that together, we will get through this.

As I am sure you have heard, the Ministry has announced that we are now in Phase 2 of school closures and that closures will continue until May 4th.   All Centennial staff have been working hard to plan for Phase 2, which includes preparing for online/virtual learning.  Staff have been in contact with many of you and are continuing to connect with families this week. Teachers have also been busy connecting with students through virtual classrooms or busy establishing creating virtual classrooms.  This process is new to many of us and we ask for patience as we navigate our new learning platforms.

As well, the staff has been collecting important information regarding student technology needs.  This information will support us to ensure that we are providing technology to all students who require it.  If you have not been in contact with your child’s teacher, please check your email account(s) and/or expect calls today or tomorrow.  Once we have an understanding of the technology needs of our students, we will be reaching out to families who require technology to share the distribution plan.  We are looking to distribute technology starting on Thursday, April 9th.

Starting tomorrow, I will be using our Centennial Twitter account to post Comet Connections- where staff members share a message to our Centennial community.  If you aren’t already following Centennial on Twitter, please do so at @Centennial_LDSB.

Please continue to follow the Centennial website http://www.centennial.on.ca and the LDSB website at www.limestone.on.ca, the Centennial Twitter account at @Centennial_LDSB and the LDSB Twitter account at @LimestoneDSB, for updates and information.  If you are looking for information regarding community supports, these will be posted on the LDSB website. As well, if you have any questions or might require assistance in trying to access community supports for you or your family, you are more than welcome to email me directly at pattisonean@limestone.on.ca.

Sincerely,

Ean Pattison
