Centennial Weekly Update
October 18, 2020

We had another great week of learning last week and students have settled into our classroom communities and the new routines needed due to COVID. We have also had a significant decrease in the number of students needing to go home during the school day due to illness. This is a result of parents’ diligence in screening your children for symptoms before coming to school each day.  Thank you for your cooperation with this important health measure for the safety of the school community.

We had a special visit on Friday from the Director of Education, Mr. Krishna Burra. As we toured the school, we had the opportunity to see student work posted in the hallways and on bulletin boards and to visit each classroom, interacting with staff and students. The students in Mrs. Lalonde’s class were very impressed by Director Burra’s height - he was so tall!

Daily Symptom Screening

The screening guidance to be done every morning before students come to school can be found at https://covid-19.ontario.ca/school-screening/. Please feel free to call the school if you have any questions or are unsure whether your child should stay home from school.

Students are asked to please wear a clean mask each day and bring a spare one in their backpack.

Late Arrival

If you are dropping your child off at school after the 9:05 entry bell, please ring the door bell at the main doors and Mrs. Janet will sign your child in and come to the doors to let your child in to the school.

Early Pick Up

If your child has an appointment during the school day and needs to be picked up early, please write a note to your child’s teacher so that we have the information in writing. If your teacher communicates via email, please send the email the day before to ensure that there is time for the teacher to read the email before the school day has started.  We appreciate receiving the notification in advance and in writing. Thank you.
