Our new class organizations started last Thursday and students are getting settled in with their teachers and classmates. Thank you very much to our families for your support during this transition.

Members at Large          Parents/guardians who attend the meetings

The next School Council Meeting will take place on Monday, October 5 at 6 pm at the school. If you require childcare, please contact the main office before the meeting date so that a childcare provider can be arranged in advance.

COVID Screening

As students and staff continue to monitor and screen for Covid symptoms before coming to school each day, we appreciate your care, attention, and diligence in staying home from school if your child is exhibiting any symptoms.  In addition to before-school screening, some children have started to feel ill during the day while at school. We are required to contact parents and guardians to come to the school to pick up your child when this occurs, and we appreciate your cooperation in coming to pick up as soon as possible.  This can be very disruptive to a parent’s/guardian’s day when childcare arrangements need to be made on short notice. Thank you for problem-solving through this and finding a solution as it is our obligation from Kingston Public Health that students do not remain at school.

Fire Drills This Week

On Monday, Thursday and Friday of this week, we will be conducting fire drills so that all students know the safe and proper procedures to exit the building and remain with their class in the event of a fire. We will be staggering our fire drills so that only one class is exiting the building at a time.

Terry Fox Walk

Classes will be participating in the Terry Fox Walk or Run this Tuesday, September 29.  Thank you to Mrs. Beardall for organizing this event for our school. Students are invited to wear their Centennial Spirit Wear or blue and white to show our support of Terry’s efforts on the 40th anniversary of his run across Canada to raise funding for and awareness of cancer.

Orange Shirt Day

Students and staff are invited to wear orange on Wednesday, September 30 in support of indigenous awareness and reconciliation.

The artwork in this week’s newsletter has been created by students in Mrs. Graham’s, Mrs. Lalonde’s/Mrs. Locke’s and Mrs. Murphy’s classes.
